Who we are

The American Board of Sexology is a peer review Board specializing in approving those learning and practicing in the field of Clinical Sexology.  Our volunteer Doctoral board members are specialized in clinical sexology review submitted papers, peer thesis, content, referenced media and anything related to the applicants request for certification. The Board directs the ABS small team to employ the services of researchers who specialized in background checks, college verification and data mining in regards to the applicant in review. The ABS also employs the services of a content specialists and web designers who create and update client listing, manage reviews, and moderate the forums for the website and its social media accounts. Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Our forum moderators will parse data for foul language and remove overly aggressive comments. We are not in the business to validate false data or “fake news” as we are not a news source or social media platform.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. For comments, you can remove your Gravatar and use a generic or anonymous image.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. Please note that images to the website should be only profile pictures and nothing of sexual or offensive content. While this is a website about Sexology and for Sexologist, image depicting sexual acts will be removed. This is a professional website for those who are looking for advice and help in the field of Sex Therapy.  We may offer a section in the forums in the future specifically marked “Adult” if request for graphic material if it is part of a medical question and answer.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Who we share your data with

We do not share sensitive data used in your orders or account setup. All data shared is from the Directory Listing and is specifically provided by you for use in marketing. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We do not store IP addresses past 24 hours.

The American Board of Sexology will not sell your information to third party marketing or advertising companies. Communication from us directly is at a minimum and we do not believe in SPAM. We follow the rules set forth by the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing Act of 2003 (CAN-SPAM Act) set forth by the United States Congress and enforced by the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
