Dr. Jeffrey Singer maintains an active forensic and clinical practice. He is licensed for independent Psychology practice in New Jersey and New York. In 2014, Dr. Singer served as President of the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA). His clinical approach is broadly informed with the ultimate goal of meeting each client’s unique needs. Particular interests include depression, anger management, anxiety, problematic sexual behavior, intimate partner violence, and increasing emotional regulation skills such as frustration tolerance and impulse control. Dr. Singer typically treats adults, couples, older adolescents, and occasionally families.

Dr. Singer’s forensic activities include conducting various Psychological Evaluations addressing questions such as the psychological impact of malpractice, sexual harassment, hostile work environment, fitness to parent, termination of parental rights, waiver, pretrial intervention program (PTI), competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility (NGRI & Krol), wavier, as well as the psychological aspects of independent medical exams (IME). Dr. Singer also conducts risk assessments of violence, intimate partner violence, general criminality, and sexual violence.

Dr. Singer has extensive experience treating and evaluating sex offenders. He regularly testifies as an expert witness in sex offender related matters. These complex issues include child pornography cases, “Megan’s Law” tiering, various risk assessment questions, and involuntary civil commitment proceedings under “sexually dangerous person” or “sexually violent predator” statutes in both the Federal and State courts.

Dr. Singer is also a Past President of the Essex-Union County Association of Psychology (EUCAP; 2008) and is a Fellow of the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI). He maintains membership in the following professional associations: American Psychological Association (APA), Association for Psychological Science (APS), Association for Scientific Advancement in Psychological Injury and Law (ASAPIL), Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA), Essex-Union County Association of Psychology (EUCAP), International Association for Correctional and Forensic Psychology (IACFP), International Network of Orthodox Mental Health Professionals (NEFESH), Morris County Psychological Association (MCPA), New Jersey Association for Cognitive Behavioral Therapists (NJ-ACT), New Jersey Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (NJ-ATSA), New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA) and the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA).

The Jewish Family Service and Children’s Center of Clifton-Passaic honored Dr. Singer to be the 2015 “Volunteer of the Year.” In 2011, he received a Certificate of Recognition from the Forensics Division of the New York State Psychological Assocation (NYSPA). Since 2009, Dr. Singer has served on the Executive Committee of the Jewish Board of Advocates For Children.

Dr. Singer has taught graduate level courses in forensic psychology ethics and abnormal psychology as an adjunct instructor at Fairleigh Dickenson University School of Psychology in Teaneck, NJ. He has also taught graduate level courses on the exceptional learner at Seton Hall University. Dr. Singer has been a guest lecturer at John Jay College of Criminal Justice as well as at the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown NJ. Dr. Singer is on the editorial boards of the Open Access Journal of Forensic Psychology (OAJFP) and Sexual Abuse in Australia and New Zealand: An Interdisciplinary Journal (SAANZ). He has several publications on the topic of sexual offenders as well.

Dr. Singer is available to give educational presentations and workshops on such topics as sexual offenders, forensic psychology, psychological evaluations, risk assessment, and the treatment of psychological disorders. He has addressed such groups as the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Federal Public Defender of North Carolina, the office of the public defenders in Wisconsin and New York State’s Mental Hygiene Legal Service, New Jersey Department of Human Services, the American Society of Criminology, the Latino Psychological Association of New Jersey, the International Network of Orthodox Mental Health Professionals, Fairleigh Dickenson University psychology gradate students, the forensic committees of the New Jersey Psychological Association and the New York State Psychological Association as well as internationally, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to the Congress of the International Academy of Law and Mental Health (2013).
