An Exploratory Study of the Manifestations of Anxiety in Heterosexual Males with Erectile Dysfunction
Brad R. Nederostek, Psy.D. earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dickinson College (2001), his Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Towson University (2003), and his Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from LaSalle University (2010). He completed an American Psychiatric Association accredited internship at the VA North Texas Health Care System (2010) followed by a two-year fellowship at the University of Minnesota's Program in Human Sexuality (2012). His primary areas of focus include both male and female sexual dysfunction, compulsive sexual behavior/sexual addiction, and relational concerns. He is an active member of the Society of Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR), the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS), and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), earning the prestigious AASECT-Certification as a Sex Therapist. With regards to theoretical orientation, Dr. Nederostek's approach is strongly rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy. In addition, he understands that a 'one size fits all' approach to treatment can be a barrier to progress. He also employs the use of mindfulness techniques and is a strong supporter of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Dr. Nederostek currently serves as the only full-time Clinical Health Psychologist within the Home-Based Primary Care Clinic at the VA North Texas Health Care System. He holds a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, providing lectures to first, second, and third year medical residents on male/female sexual dysfunction, paraphilias, and impulsive/compulsive sexual behavior. He also provides lectures of male/female sexual dysfunction and the paraphilias to 2nd year Physician Assistant Students at UT Southwestern. In addition, Dr. Nederostek continues to be sought out as a guest lecturer for the psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows in various clinics at the VA North Texas Health Care System, as well as medical students at Baylor University (Promoting Sexual Health: Creating a Workable Approach for Physicians). Dr. Nederostek has recently partnered with psychiatrist, Dr. Rob Garrett, in providing lectures on both the medical and psychological components of erectile dysfunction. Most recently, the two had provided this lecture to the North Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians. In his free time, Dr. Nederostek enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is a PGA Tour volunteer who marshals for the AT&T Byron Nelson (TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas) and serves as marshal co-captain of the Charles Schwab Challenge (Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas). He is a fitness enthusiast and fan of singer/songwriter, Jimmy Buffett. He has been known to turn to his songs at the end of his work day.
