Dr. Jared Boot-Haury (he/they) is a queer licensed clinical psychologist and kink and poly-affirming AASECT Certified Sex Therapist in San Francisco. Their clinical areas of interest include identity exploration, psychosexual concerns, relationship concerns, anxiety, and depression. Evidence-based approaches to treatment he utilizes include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and emotionally focused therapy (EFT); they completed LGBTQ+-centered couples therapy training in EFT and CBT training through the Beck Institute. In addition to individual and relationship therapy, Dr. Boot-Haury is a certified member and mentor of WPATH and are competent in providing surgical assessment letters for transgender and gender diverse clients. Their goal in treatment is to help clients feel safe, understood, and supported on their journey toward self-acceptance and healing.

Dr. Boot-Haury teaches as a faculty member at the University of San Francisco in the clinical psychology doctoral program and serves on the board of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality, the country’s largest and oldest multidisciplinary LGBTQ+ health professional organization. They have received national and international awards, have been published in several scientific journals, and have presented their work on LGBTQ+ health at numerous national and international conferences. He continues to stay involved in research because he believes this helps them be a better clinician for their clients. Dr. Boot-Haury has been featured for his work in media outlets such as AskMen, Scientific American, and Newsweek.

They earned their bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a master’s and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology, and a graduate certificate in LGBT Health Policy and Practice from George Washington University. He completed his APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship at the San Francisco VA Medical Center with a specialty in LGBTQ+ interprofessional health after completing his APA-accredited doctoral internship.
