I have more than 35 years of combined professional practice/experience in Mental Health, Human Services, and Higher Education. The client population I served are: children-adolescents, young adults, middle adults, and older adults from diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds with a wide range of personal, relational, behavioral, and mental health issues.
I have worked in various agencies, such as:

- Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division (focusing on treatment of psychiatric patients and adult sex offender treatment);
- Inpatient psychiatric hospitals (West Oaks-Cypress Creek Hospital, Sharpstown General Hospital, Riverside General Hospital focusing on treatment of patients — children-adolescents, adults, and geriatric population— with mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance abuse/dependence, and dual-diagnosis);
- MHMRA-Harris County (now Harris Center for Mental Health, focusing on treatment of patients with mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and children-adolescents with behavioral problems);
- Montrose Counseling Center, a LGBTQIA+ United Way Human Services agency, where I completed my doctoral internship in Counseling and later worked as a part-time LPC and LMFT psychotherapist;
- University of Houston Clearlake, where I served as an adjunct faculty in their clinical psychology graduate program;
- Houston Community College (HCC), where I served as faculty in Human Services - Addictions Counseling program, faculty Counselor and Chair of Counseling and Ability Services (CAS), adjunct faculty in Psychology, and retired as Lead Counselor of CAS at HCC-Central campus on Jan 4, 2024);
- Prairie View A&M University, where I served 2 years as full-time Assistant Professor and 2 semesters as adjunct faculty in the Counselor Education Master’s program;
- University of St. Thomas (UST) - Houston, where I served as adjunct faculty (2013-2015) as adjunct faculty in Counselor Education Master’s program, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program; I currently serve as adjunct faculty in CMHC program (Spr 2024).
My doctoral dissertation was in the area of Clinical Supervision and I serve as a clinical supervisor for LPC, LMFT and LSOTP interns seeking licensure. I have also served as practicum site clinical supervisor for graduate students in clinical psychology, counselor education, clinical mental health counseling, human services, addictions counseling, and marriage and family therapy.
