Dr. Tameca (or Dr. Tea – for her love of tea) is a therapist, sex therapist, certified sexuality educator, intimacy coach, integrative mental health provider, and the Founder and Director of Hope & Serenity Health Services. Dr. Tea is passionate about helping women and persons in relationships live lives that feel whole, authentic, fulfilling, and free. She began her career in the helping profession over 20 years ago in Virginia, working primarily with youth and single mothers after receiving her bachelor’s degree in counseling from Old Dominion University. She went on to pursue her master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland-Baltimore and continued serving as a clinician to women, youth, single mothers, persons recently migrated to the U.S., and LGBTQIA+ populations in the Baltimore/DC areas. Inspired by the need of diverse communities to have access to factual sexual health information, Dr. Tea decided to advance her education with a PhD from Widener University in Human Sexuality in 2010. Over the years, Dr. Tea has served as a clinician, educator, and administrator with broad and diverse individuals and groups, including supporting children in foster care, women in prison, persons living with severe mental illness, serving as a hospital social worker, and clinician and sexuality educator for a special-needs school – to name few. Dr. Tea has also served as an academician, teaching and conducting research in both full and part-time capacities for various social work and sexuality programs across the U.S. Regardless of the role, Dr. Tea has continued to bring her passion for women’s mental and sexual health, relationship wellness, and advocacy for diverse communities to the forefront. She is nationally certified by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) as a Sexuality Educator. She also served as a former AASECT board member and co-chair of the AASECT Strategic Planning Committee. Bridging her passion for holistic health and wellness, Dr. Tea is also a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional (CIMHP) and Level II Reiki practitioner. She uses the knowledge of nutrition and holistic body therapies to support clients with depression, anxiety, decreased motivation, sexual intimacy concerns, and more. Dr. Tea is also an EMDR trained clinician, a full member of the EMDR International Association, and an approved provider of premarital counseling in the state of Florida. Dr. Tea combines her knowledge, passions, and skills along with evidence-based models of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, EMDR, and Psychodynamic Therapy to provide optimal relationship, sex therapy, and individual therapy for clients. When she is not leading the practice or teaching, you will most likely find Dr. Tea traveling internationally, enjoying a great cup of tea (of course), scouting areas for the latest vegan goodies, or leading a sexuality or diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)-centered training. Dr. Tea is an often-sought-after speaker and presenter, appreciated for her inclusive, authentic, and very energetic and engaging presentation style. She is also a Certified Supervisor for Social Workers in the state of Florida and enjoys helping future clinicians get engaged in the meaningful work of helping others.
