Webinar Research Launch: Sex for Rent

The National Women’s Council is delighted to host a webinar launching Sex for Rent – An Exploratory Study of Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Harassment in the Rental Market, 16/05/2024 at 10.30 am. This study was generously funded by Community Foundation Ireland and the European Women’s Lobby.

The webinar will showcase our study which examines Sex for Rent exploitation in Ireland. The research polls a number of stakeholder organisations and experts on sexual violence/exploitation and housing issues and presents their consolidated views on the nature of this form of abuse and the harms it causes. The webinar will present the research which examines the issue in the context of the particular constraints within the Irish rental market and the growing feminisation of homelessness.

The study argues that this form of sexual exploitation needs to be addressed by both appropriate legislation and by the putting in place of services to support those (primarily women) who are victims of this practice.

Key points from the research will be highlighted followed by a short Q&A session with attendees.
